JAZZ
A Victim of Hurricane Katrina

At an airplane hangar in Santa Monica, we found ourselves surrounded by hundreds of rescues, all victims of Hurricane Katrina. So, we did what we could, and we pulled three of the dogs – each with her/his own story to tell, and one with a horrible skin condition from being in water for so long. We named him Jazz, and he was such a character. What a very dear sweet dog. But he itched like crazy, with barely an inch of hair on him and red puffy skin.

We tried changing his diet, putting him on all kinds of medications and doing whatever we could think of to help his discomfort to stop and the swelling and redness to go away. But nothing seemed to help.

Ellie had been one of our volunteers at Karma Rescue, walking dogs and taking care of them during our weekly adoptions. She offered to do a healing session with Jazz. And after all the things we'd tried,we figured it might just do some good. So, she spent a few moments with him, and Jazz flopped down to the ground. Then he flipped over onto his back, and just laid there in a trance. When she was done, he jumped back onto his feet. And she told us to watch him closely for the next two weeks to see if we noticed any sort of changes or improvements in him.

Well, two weeks later, Jazz was a completely different dog. He had stopped his itching almost completely, and he had grown back all of his fur. I could hardly recognize him when his foster brought him to adoptions that week. He looked like a completely different dog! See our before and after photos of him. You would hardly believe that both are of the same dog. But that’s our Jazz. And now, he is in his forever home. Thank you Ellie, for all of the healing work you have done for Karma Rescue.
